About us ECOPACK BULGARIA is a non for profit company established in February 2004 by 18 leading Bulgarian and multinational companies. We are the first packaging recovery organization licensed by the Ministry of Environment and Waters. The activities of ECOPACK BULGARIA are financed by the clients' installments. General information ECOPACK BULGARIA is member of the European packaging recovery organization PRO EUROPE with the rights to use and to provide its clients "Der Gr?ne Punkt" ("Green Dot") trade mark. We provide opportunity for the responsible business in the country to fulfill its obligations for separate waste collection and recovery of packaging released on the market in Bulgaria. ECOPACK BULGARIA does not have as shareholders waste collection and recycling companies. Our company does not use the services of and does not make payments to its shareholders. Clients How the System Operates Collection, transport, sorting and preliminary treatment of the separately collected packaging waste from the households, the commercial and industrial sector, and the administrative buildings are organized through contracts between ECOPACK BULGARIA and specialized collection companies. These companies have many years of experience in waste collection, leading positions at the Bulgarian market as well as the necessary machines and equipment. In order to fulfil its obligations for packaging waste recovery and recycling ECOPACK has signed contracts with plants that recycle the respective packaging material.   ECOPACK BULGARIA is financing the additional costs associated with the implementation of the separate collection and sorting of packaging waste. The amount of this financing takes into account the specific conditions that exist in each particular municipality and have impact on the costs (existing systems for collection and sorting, type of the sorted materials, number of inhabitants, distance to the recycling and recovery installations, etc.). The activities of ECOPACK BULGARIA are financed by the clients' installments. The installment is annual or monthly depending on the total packaging amount for a calendar year that ECOPACK is taking the obligation for. Clients with packaging up to 10 tons annually pay once on the basis of forecast data for the respective year. They are exempted of submitting monthly reports. Clients with packaging above 10 tons annually submit forecast data for the entire year and monthly reports with the actual packaging amounts released on the market in the previous month. They pay monthly installments. The minimum recovery installment for a calendar year is 150 BGN, VAT excluded. ECOPACK BULGARIA does not distribute profit. The amount of the remuneration covers only the costs of the company in connection with organization, administration and reporting of the collection, recovery and recycling of the packaging waste, implementation of information and communication campaigns to promote responsible attitude towards separate collection and recycling. Municipalities   Getting included in the separate packaging waste collection system In order to get included in Ecopack’s separate packaging waste collection system, a municipality should express its intentions in a letter. Ecopack then approaches the municipality back with a reply in which arguments for implementation, parameters of the suggested particular system or another option are specified. An exemplary contract appointing the Municipality as “Principal” and Ecopack as “Contractor” is attached to the letter. Separate waste collection system information The system for separate packaging waste collection developed by Ecopack consists of 3 color containers: blue – for paper and cardboard, yellow – for metal and plastic, green – for glass. This is the most common and efficiency proven model in Europe. The types of containers allocated in municipalities, commercial outlets, warehouses and manufacture facilities are as follows Two-wheel plastic containers of 120 liters or 240 liters Four-wheel and “Chest” type lid plastic and metal containers of 770 l and 1100 l Plastic or metal containers with bottom opening of 1500 l (including the “Igloo” type containers) Four-wheel and “Chest” type lid blue and yellow plastic containers of 770 liters and 1100 l combined with a bottom opening “Igloo” type green container of 1000 l or 1500 l Press-containers (for paper and plastic packaging waste) and Multifit system type (for paper and glass packaging waste) are used to collect waste generated in large commercial outlets, warehouses and manufacture facilities.   www.ecopack.bg
