    BULGARIAN ACADEMY OF SCIENCES CENTRAL LABORATORY OF APPLIED PHYSICS – PLOVDIV     The Central Laboratory of Applied Physics is an independent academic specialized unit, carrying out research & development work with the following priorities: Equipment design, transfer of technologies, realization of technological orders and characterization in the field of nanosized, nanostructured and nanocomposited layers and superhard coatings from TiN, CrN, ZrN, Ti(N,C), Cr(N,C), Zr(N,C), (TixAl1-x)N, (AlxTi1-x)N-Si3N4 и (AlxCr1-x)N-Si3N4 Research and industrial application of Ohmic contacts; assembly and packaging of electronic components, including MEMS and NEMS; a range of light emitting diodes, photo-, magneto- and thermosensors, as well as sensor units; high power, high frequency and high temperature SiC MESFETs, p-n and p-i-n diodes; photoprobes. Design and industrial application of range of thermoelectric cooling systems. Research and industrial application of high efficiency and energy saving LEDs lighting, including UV light emitting diodes. CLAP offer: Automatic industrial equipment and technology for electric arc deposition of hard carbides and nitrides coatings upon cutting tools, press-forms, dies and other details from stainless steel and tool steel, enhancing their hardness, wear- and corrosion resistance. Coatings are of thickness from 1 to 5 µm and microhardness up to 37 GPa. The equipment and technology for electric arc deposition, as well as the coatings deposition can be ordered and offered for sale. Electric arc deposition of carbides and nitrides superhard coatings and nanocomposites on tool steels: cold/hot work steel, high speed steel (HSS), HSCO, M42 and tungsten carbides, as such as nanocomposites with programmable coating thickness from 1 to 10 µm and microhardness more than 40 GPa. A variety of coatings can be ordered. Multifunctional equipment measurements of micro- and nanohardness, adhesion, Youngs modulus and coefficient of friction of hard and superhard materials and coatings. Industrial equipment and technology for electrodischarge polishing of metal parts of surface area up to 750 cm2. The equipment and technology for electrodischarge polishing with power from 10 to 40 kW, as well as the polishing of different kind of metals and alloys can be ordered and offered for sale. Ohmic and Schottky contacts for SiC devices based on Ni, Ni/Si, Al, Al/Si, Ti, AlSiTi, Pd, Pd/Ti and Pd/Si using thermal and e-beam evaporation, and magnetron sputtering. Ecological thermoelectric cooling – heating devices on the base of Peltier modules – isothermal containers, refrigerators, cooling cellars and various coolers. Assembly and packaging of discrete semiconductor devices; Packages and packaging of high temperature devices. Photoconductive cells in the wavelength range from 640 to 680 nm. .
