“Dikom” Ltd. was founded in 2006 with its registered office and management address in the city of Varna.
The company’s main activity is the design, construction and maintenance of lightning protection systems, grounding installations and protection against atmospheric and switching overvoltages for residential and industrial buildings, outdoor facilities and open areas.
Over the years we have established ourselves as a loyal, preferred and reliable partner in the sector. We have a team of highly qualified specialists in the field, trained to perform their professional duties and responsibilities. Our high‑quality equipment guarantees long‑term and reliable operation, while at the same time we offer competitive prices.
“Dikom” Ltd. is the exclusive representative of one of the world leaders in lightning protection technologies – the Spanish manufacturer AIDITEC SYSTEMS, producing early‑streamer‑emission lightning rods AIDITEC from the ADVANCE, SIGMA and ELECTRON series.
“Dikom” Ltd., Varna, designs and installs all types of lightning protection and grounding systems in Varna and throughout Bulgaria in accordance with modern European standards and technologies. The installations comply with Regulation No. 4 on lightning protection of buildings, outdoor facilities and open areas; Regulation No. 2 on fire‑safety construction and technical standards; and Regulation No. 3 (PUBU).
The lightning protection installation (lightning rod) is a set of technological measures and devices for protection against the dangerous and harmful effects of lightning. The purpose of the lightning protection system or lightning rod, as many people call it, is to intercept lightning directed towards the protected object, create an artificial path and conduct the lightning charge into the ground, thereby protecting buildings, facilities, materials and others from destruction, fires and explosions, as well as ensuring the safety of people and domestic animals.
A lightning protection system is required for all buildings, facilities and open areas where people are present or economic activity is carried out. Many people mistakenly believe that in a big city “lightning will not strike them”. This is not true. Have you ever wondered whether your residential building has reliable lightning protection? In reality, most residential buildings in large cities rely on an old lightning rod or have no lightning protection system at all.
Lightning carries extremely high energy. For this reason, the installation of a lightning protection system is subject to strict rules and concerns all elements such as lightning rods, masts, down conductors, connecting elements and the resistance of grounding systems. Installing a partial lightning protection system (lightning rod) on the principle of a “grounded antenna/wind vane” can be even more dangerous than having no system at all, because relying solely on grounding is not sufficient.
Conversely, lightning protection without a high‑quality grounding system, measured with professional equipment and compliant with the standards, cannot provide the necessary level of protection. To be sufficiently effective, a lightning protection system must have a measured ground resistance not exceeding 10 ohms (for active lightning protection) and 20 ohms (for conventional/passive systems).
“Dikom” Ltd. – Varna, designs, installs, repairs and maintains all types of grounding installations: grounding systems for residential and industrial buildings, transformers, generators, photovoltaic plants, production halls and more.
Exothermic welds are an extremely efficient and effective method for electrical bonding, without the need for an external power source, as is required with conventional welding. An exothermic connection is far more resistant to high current values than connections made with standard clamps, bolted joints or conventional welds, which are most commonly used in Bulgaria. Exothermic welds create a permanent electrical and molecular bond that cannot loosen or corrode. The high temperature achieved triggers a chemical reaction between the powder components – copper oxide and aluminum. The chemical reaction takes place in a graphite mold; when the welding material reaches the required temperature, it melts and flows into the cavity of the mold where the conductors to be joined are located. The finished weld cools very quickly, after which the mold can be removed and the next weld performed.
Free software for designing lightning protection installations – AIDITEC SYSTEMS
The standards UNE 21186, NFC 17102 and NP 4426, which regulate lightning protection activities, include a method for assessing the risk of lightning strikes.
A free automated version for performing a risk assessment analysis of lightning strike damage for all types of buildings is provided by the Spanish manufacturer of technological solutions in the field of lightning protection – AIDITEC SYSTEMS. It is offered for free use so that specialists can easily achieve maximum efficiency. For expert opinions and advice on more complex or non‑standard projects, you can also contact the specialists at “Dikom” Ltd. for assistance.
The software is based on the methodology established in the international standard EN 62305‑2: “Lightning Protection – Part 2.” According to the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC), a lightning risk assessment must be carried out before designing lightning protection systems for any building or facility.
