One of our recent projects illustrates a common approach in England – instead of demolishing an old building, it is expanded and upgraded. Behind a “modern” late‑18th‑century façade stands a rural house with a timber‑frame structure from the early 17th century, extended twice over the years. Rather than tearing it down, we are adding a new single‑storey living room with generous glazing, bringing light, comfort and contemporary usability.
