The mission of the Institute of Polymers is to carry out research and education/training in macromolecular sciences that are relevant to the development and application of polymers and polymeric materials. Its research policy is in accordance with the priority of the European Union for knowledge based economy. The institute is realizing successfully the model based on knowledge accumulation and education via scientific research and its transformation into new technologies and products to meet adequately the requirements of the society. Expertise & Services Expertise Polymer synthesis - polymerization and polycondenzation reactions; controlled synthesis of polymers with tailored composition, structure and properties; hybrid and functional polymers; modification and cross-linking of natural and synthetic polymers, conjugation of bioactive compounds; Preparation of polymer-based materials – networks and gels, stimulus responsive materials, polymer complexes, hybrid and composite materials, nanostructured and nanosized materials: particulate, layered and fibrous materials. Characterization - composition and structure/morphology of polymers and polymer composites, molecular mass averages, molecular mass distribution, radius of gyration, viscosity and rheological properties, thermal characteristics.
