Prof. d-r Kiril Kirov, dm - Hirurg

Prof. Kirov graduated from the Medical University – Varna in 1993. He obtained a specialty in surgery in 1998 at the Second Surgical Clinic of ORKB – Varna. He worked at the Department of General and Operative Surgery at University Hospital “St. Marina” – Varna until 2008. He then served as Head of the Surgical Department for Oncological Diseases at SBALOZ “Dr. M. Markov” – Varna and later Head of the Oncosurgery Department at the Complex Oncology Center – Shumen. Since December 2024 he has been part of the Surgical Oncology team at the Oncology Center – Burgas, and since May 2025 he has been Head of the Clinic of Oncological Surgery at the Oncology Center – Burgas.

In his postgraduate qualification he has completed the following courses and trainings in the field of surgery:

In 2015 he defended a dissertation to obtain the educational and scientific degree “Doctor” on the topic: “Optimization of outcomes in conventional and laparoscopic colorectal resections.” In 2017 he was awarded the academic title “Associate Professor.” He is the author and co‑author of over 50 publications in the fields of surgery, oncology, gastroenterology and coloproctology in Bulgarian and international scientific journals (Journal of Hepatology and Surgical Science). In 2017 he published the monograph “Colorectal Precancerous Conditions.” In 2021 he published his habilitation monograph “Colorectal Anastomotic Insufficiency: Prevention, Consequences and Treatment.” In 2025 he was awarded the academic title “Professor.” He is a member of the Bulgarian Medical Association, the Bulgarian Surgical Society and the International Medical Association “Bulgaria.”
