Korkos Ltd is a company which specialises in manufacturing wood flooring and finger-jointed panels (worktops) from solid European, North American and exotic hard woods. It was first registered in 1996 when its activity in the field of woodworking began. In 1997 Korkos opened a wood flooring factoryin the mountain village of Stara Reka and launched the first products bearing their brand. The business has been a success story ever since. Their progress was aided by important factors such as a favourable geographical location (in the heart of Stara Planina Mountain) which is in close proximity to an excellent road network with convenient links for both local and international distribution. This helped the company to achieve its main goal, which was to produce high quality products at reasonable and competitive prices. Being 1-2h away from the ports of Varna and Bourgas and with direct access by road to Central and Western Europe made the delivery of raw materials to the factory and distributing to clients very cost effective. As the company grew at a reasonably fast paste it became possible to add a new attractive line to its range of products – solid wood finger-jointed panels with many possible applications – kitchen worktops, table tops, various work surfaces and other uses in the furniture industry like staircase components, for example. In order to meet the needs of this new production line anotherfactory was opened in the town of Sliven in2004. This factory was fitted with high tech German equipment by Weinich in accordance with all European requirements for safety and high efficiency. The already well developed network of clients and good manufacturing capacity soon made this quality product very successful. Korkos flooring and worktops become more and more popular and the network of clients and business partners widens. In the last few years the company has become the largest manufacturer of solid hard wood products. It is also a leading importer and consumer of exotic raw material. Currently Korkos Ltd is successfully tackling the challenges of the constantly changing and developing European market. A large part of the company’s production is exported to countries within the European Union but more recently the export has expanded to countries such as Russia and Switzerland.
