Why do we insulate houses?
What do we usually do when we feel cold – we put on thick warm clothes or wrap ourselves tightly in a blanket. However, when we are at home, this is not particularly convenient or pleasant, because we need to feel comfortable and move freely around the rooms. Installing external insulation on a house is like wrapping it in a blanket, but instead we “dress” the walls of the entire house.

Our ancestors reached this conclusion long ago. After leaving the caves, they began building their homes partially dug into the ground, with small windows and roofs made of thick layers of moss and straw. The economic situation and the incredible growth in construction of residential and office buildings created a huge vacuum in the need for construction workers, resulting in a significant decline in construction quality. In the construction of residential buildings before the year 2000, installing roof insulation, facade insulation, or floor insulation was considered an exceptional luxury. Buildings constructed with proper insulation were extremely rare, and hiring rope‑access technicians for mountaineering services was an absolute impossibility. With the introduction of “Regulation No. 7 of 2004 on heat preservation and energy savings in buildings,” insulation became a mandatory component in construction, and legalizing a newly built building without it became impossible. The change in construction regulations opened a new niche in the labor market, and for the first time we became familiar with the technology and types of insulation materials.

The need for rope‑access technicians to perform mountaineering services and work in hard‑to‑reach areas became evident, while qualifications for this activity were practically nonexistent. The initial enthusiasm and curiosity of several young men helped us begin, even though we did not know how to tie the ropes properly. In the beginning, the demand for rope‑access technicians was related to installing external insulation on panel apartments. Gradually, the tasks increased in difficulty until we began insulating large facades requiring dexterity and speed. As some of the first rope‑access technicians performing external insulation using the alpine method, we were overwhelmed with orders, and those wishing to insulate their apartments had to wait for months. In 2007, we founded Toploizolacia Ltd. and became one of the first companies specializing in industrial rope‑access work and mountaineering services. Over time, our knowledge and experience grew rapidly, and with each passing day the team members became true professionals.

Youthful years passed, but we managed to preserve our friendship, and the united team of rope‑access technicians became a true machine whose work impresses instantly. At this point, we have installed insulation using rope‑access methods on thousands of individual apartments and facades with difficult access. We can proudly state that we have never had to repair insulation installed by us, despite the lack of teachers and information about installation technology when we started our journey. All of this is due to the enormous desire and diligence we put into our work, preserved to this day. Although the company gradually expanded its scope of work by purchasing large quantities of scaffolding, rope‑access work and mountaineering services remained the most romantic period in the company’s development. The rope‑access technicians working with us are still among our most experienced employees.
